PROPOSED ASSESSMENTS FOR FY 2017
The Town of Upton has received preliminary certification of the values from the Massachusetts Department of Revenue, Bureau of Local Assessment for all classes of property for fiscal year 2017.
In accordance with DOR requirements, the valuations are established as of the assessment date of January 1, 2016 consistent with CH. 653 of the Acts of 1989. The market data including sales from calendar years 2014 & 2015 was analyzed to determine the valuations as of the assessment date. Residential values increased by 8% on average, commercial values increased by 1% on average and industrial values decreased by 1% on average, though individual property values may vary significantly from the average.
The public disclosure period is from September 26 through October 6. You may contact the Assessors’ Office at 508-529-1002 or firstname.lastname@example.org during the public disclosure period to ask questions, review, discuss and request changes in the proposed values. The Assessor’s Office is located in the Town Hall at 1 Main St, Upton, MA 01568. The office hours are as follows: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 8:00 A.M. -4:00 P.M., Tuesday 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friday 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The list of property values will be on the town website @ www.uptonma.gov. also for your convenience we will have a set of the property valuation lists at the Police Station located at 30 School St. Upton, MA 01568, available 24/7 during the disclosure period.
