Fuel Assistance, SNAP, & other services

Fuel Assistance through the Southern Middlesex Opportunity Council (SMOC)

SMOC is an income based program that helps subsidize households heating bills. The program runs from November 1 to April 30. You are required to fill out an application and be approved by SMOC in order to receive this assistance. The Social Services department at The Upton Center can assist you with completing an application and submitting the proper documentation.

If you are new to Fuel Assistance you will need to schedule a meeting with the Social Services Coordinator to review new application.

For those individuals and families who are not eligible for SMOC the Upton Center may have other options to assist residents with their heating needs. In this case you would be required to bring the same paperwork including bank statements of all accounts to the center for the Social Services Coordinator to review eligibility.

Please note heating assistance programs are meant to supplement assistance and are not meant to pay for all your heating costs throughout the season.
